AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco (American professional soccer player) is a striker. She also serves as the captain of the San Diego Wave FC of National Women's Soccer League, the top division of women's professional soccer. From 2018 until 2020, she was co-captained the US women's national soccer team alongside Megan Rapinoe. In the months following her graduation in the early years of the University of California, Berkeley in the USA, where she played with the California Golden Bears, Morgan was picked as the first overall selection in the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. She made her debut in professional football and played in the team's win of the league championship. Morgan was 22, at the time was the youngest athlete on the national team at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, where the team finished as runners-up. In the 2012 London Olympics she scored the winning goal in the 123rd minute in the semi-final clash against Canada. She ended 2012 with 21 goals and 28 assists, and Mia Hamm was the only American woman who scored both 20 and 20 goals. She was the sixth-youngest U.S. player ever to score 20 goals in a single season. After being named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the year, Morgan was also named a FIFA World Player of the Award finalist. Morgan helped the United States win the title at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups. She was selected for the Dream Team in both tournaments. In 2019, Morgan won the Silver Boot.
