Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian songwriter and singer. She has released over 20 albums. DiFranco's music is classified as alternative rock and folk. Yet, they include influences from jazz hip hop punk and funk. Ani diFranco was among the first musician to start her own label in the year 1990. Ani is widely considered as one of the feminist icons. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23rd 1970. She is the daughter Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco and Dante Americo DiFranco, who met while attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her mother was born in Montreal and her father comes from Italian roots. Ani diFranco composed and performed the song 32 Flavors. The song was released on her album Not a Pretty Girl released in 1995. It was also featured on the soundtrack of the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. DiFranco apologized in 2013 after it was revealed that she had planned to hold the three-day event on one of the Louisiana former slave plantation.
